Gugulethu Sophia Mbatha also called Gugu Mbatha-Raw, is a famous British stage and film actress that gained fame when she appeared in"Doctor Who," (a British science-fiction TV show) series aired on the BBC channel. Gugu was famous for her character Tish Jones in the BBC series. The character was twin sister of a character who was named Martha Jones. Her father was a dealer of used cars. Her mother was an German immigrants who arrived in the United States in 1958. After more than ten years fight against breast cancer, she passed away in 1989. Her father is Jewish so she raised up Reform Judaism. Handler enjoyed a happy, healthy childhood within a thriving neighborhood. She was just 19 when she decided to move into Los Angeles and pursue acting. Handler started acting in order to make cash. Handler at the time was 21 years of age, decided to focus on stand-up comics full time when she discovered her story telling skills. The beginning of her career Handler began her stand-up profession as part of the Oxygen network, which was an all-female cast on the hidden camera/comedy reality television series Girls Behaving badly. The show was broadcast from 2002 to2005. Handler began appearing on various other programs, including Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler was also a correspondent for The Tonight Show. Handler had her biggest break in 2006, as she was named host on E! named The Chelsea Handler Show. The show ran for a total of two seasons. The following year, Handler performed on the Comedy Central's Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour in the United States. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend, HBO and Comedy Central have all aired her stand-up shows. In 2010, it was announced that she was to host the MTV Video Music Awards 2010. It made her the 2nd women in history, behind Roseanne Barr, to host VMAs.
